Just overheard this conversation at the in-laws while in the bathroom:

Brother-in-law: Take a look at this, feel this.
Father-in-law: I do not want to feel anything of yours.
B-i-l: no seriously, I want you to feel how warm this is.
F-I-L: I don’t care.
B-I-L: just put your fingers in here and see how warm this is.

I really don’t think I want to know what they were talking about.

There are many items on my to do list that I would really like to do in this life. I’m not talking about travel that for monetary reasons I have not been able to do to this point in my life. These are things I could do right now if I chose to and lent time and effort to them. For whatever reason though I have yet to do any of them. I will now speak of them in the hope that I may start to motivate myself enough to get started on at least one of them.

Write a Book

My mastery of the english language my not be good enought to crack the NY Times Bestseller list yet, but I believe it is good enough to write a book. My imagination may not allow me to create worlds and bring them to the reader in a manner that is understandable, but it is decent. Writing a book is not something I think I would be great at, but it is something I would like to do, for me. I would love to tell a story from start to finish that would entertain or effect the reader in such a way to be remembered. That’s all. I even have the plot almost worked out:

“Jim is a normal guy. He has a normal wife, two normal kids, a normal pet and a normal job. Jim’s life is so normal that his last name is even Normal. Jim suffers from delusions of grandeur, however and his delusions are getting worse as of late, unbeknownst to the Normal family. At any time Jim will depict himself saving a stranger’s life, or meeting a secret admirer he didn’t know he had. Jim starts to imagine anything that will allow him to escape the normalcy of his life.

All that changes, however, when Jim is finally in the wrong place at the wrong time, changing everything about the Normal Family for ever…..or does it?”

Apply to Survivor

Those that know me well, know that my favorite reality show has always been Survivor. Out of the 17 seasons the show has aired, I have watched 15. It is rare that the most deserving person on the show each season, wins, but to their own fault. Most of the time there is one contestant that does outlast, outwit, outplay, but they fail to argue that to the jury. In fact, like Sugar did in this last season, they usually try to backtrack and apologize, when they should not. I would like to change that.

I would do whatever it took to get to the final three, then argue that I outlasted, outwitted and outplayed every last member of the jury. I would let the jury know, when asked, that while I enjoyed spending time with them, I needed to vote them off to win a million dollars. Plain and simple. I have hated every answer I have heard to the question “Why did you stab me in the back and vote me off”? My answer would simply be “because I wanted to last longer than you to win the million dollars.” When asked “Why do you deserve to win?” my answer would be “because I outwitted, outlasted, and outplayed everyone on the jury. I deserve the million because, whether it is the popular choice or not, I decided when and who to vote off.”

I know I can make it that far in the game, and make the correct argument to win the game of Survivor. I cannot explain, however, why I have yet to make a video to submit to CBS to apply to be on the show.

While there are more items that I have not begun to tackle to this point in my life, I will start with these. These are the two things I would like to start doing now. I’ll continue this topic another day.

I had a dirty dream this morning in the 15 minutes from when my alarm goes off to when the snooze goes off.  Since I haven’t remembered any of my dreams for a long time and I haven’t posted to my blog in just about as long, I decided to write this one down.

I saw parts of both of these clips at different times.  I knew they were close, but I didn’t realize how close.

I was just going through some videos on YouTube and found some cheap videos shot at the Foo Fighters Concert I took theDaughter to.  Being in the upper deck, I was not expecting to be able to hear myself in a video taken on the floor, but at 1:57 of this video, during the drum solo, you can hear me.  I promise that’s me, I remember Breanna covering her ears and thanking me after yelling during the drum solo:

Yes, this is the same CC we saw in Cleveland last year, but I will say this. This CC has pitched on 3 days rest twice in a row now. He pitched the last game of the season on 3 days rest and dominated. Maybe there is something with the playoffs for him. Hope it doesn’t affect his contract negotiations this offseason. Unless, of course, the Tribe could sweep in and get him at a discounted price, then I hope it does.

But Sabathia, continuing his puzzling postseason pattern, allowed five runs, six hits and four walks over 3 2/3 IP, his shortest outing since April 11, when he still played for the Cleveland Indians. Sabathia, who also melted down twice against the Red Sox in the ALCS a season ago, has a 7.92 ERA in five career playoff appearances.

As I said Sunday night, My Thoughts

Madden just summed up tonight perfectly for the Browns. He said they don’t look great, but a hell of a lot better than they did last week.

I posted all game, and as I’m reading back through my thoughts, it becomes obvious what caused the Browns 10 loss in a row to the Steelers:

• Bad Clock Management – Drives in both the 2nd and 4th quarters run too much clock off during plays.  Players look to be taking their time in getting in and out of the huddle.  Too many run plays to gain 2 – 3 yards. I blame the coach for that, as he needs to be providing a sense of urgency there that he’s not.
• Roelisburger, Parker and Santonio Holmes are too good.  Even when kept in check most of the game, they come up with the big play when needed most.
• Ten Words “Offsides defense, #(91,92,93,etc.) lining up in the neutral zone.” Honestly, how hard is it to look at where the ball is and line up correctly.  I noticed we were far more aggressive this week than last, but those 4 penalties killed us at times.
• Braylon Edwards still does not look ready for prime time.  Whether it was drops, or not positioning himself right, or not being ready for the ball, he had 4 balls thrown his way that were catchable, and not caught, most of which would have resulted in 1st downs.  Enough said.

One good thing I posted about several times was Shaun Rogers. That guy was a beast, even though he was double teamed, he was consistently in Pittsburgh’s back field. I believe he will be credited with one sack, and two tackles for losses, one on a screen play to Hines Ward.  That big guy can move and he’s getting off to a great start this year.

I’ve said this for awhile now, NFL rookies should get paid a set amount for a one year contract based on their draft position.  Negotiating huge deals for rookies who haven’t done anything in professional sports is absolutely ridiculous.

It’s the 49ers bad luck that they got the top pick in a thin draft, just like the Dolphins did this year. I mean, I’m sure Bill Parcells is happy with Jake Long, but you know it killed him to have to fork over all those dollars to a kid who was getting pushed around by a dude on App State at this time one year ago. The element of draft luck won’t change with a salary structure, but teams will stop getting penalized when there aren’t any worthy players to pick.

Have we reached a point in our existence in which professional athletes need armored cars for their own safety?  If you listen to the armored car manufacturer, we have.
