About

I am a Husband, a Dad, a Son, an Uncle, an IT Manager, a Gadget Enthusiast, a Cleveland Sports Fan, a Craft Beer Drinker, a Music Listener, a Poker Hobbyist and an Occasional Karaoke Singer.

Husband, Dad, Son, Brother and Uncle - Family is extremely important to me. I am a Husband of 1, Father of 1, Step-Father of 2 more, Son of 2 parents by adoption, yes they chose me, Brother of 1 sister, Brother-in-Law of 1 brother and recent Uncle to a Niece by way of my brother-in-law. While I think I am a good husband and father, I wish I was a better son, brother, brother-in-law and uncle. I am not a very good communicator if I do not see a person every day.
IT Manager - I have always enjoyed new technology. I also enjoy helping other people understand and use new technology. I currently manage a team that supports and defines end-user computing at my company. Our focus is on desktops, laptops and mobile computing, which means we also get to attempt to manage the “consumerization” of IT.
Gadget Enthusiast - Because of my current position, I get to try out a good deal of new mobile devices in an effort to understand how it could be used at our company, which feeds my inner technophile.
Cleveland Sport Fan - Born and bred a Cleveland Sports Fan, unfortunately. Although I spent the first 12 years of my adult life almost as far away from Cleveland as you can get in this country, at least without moving to Alaska or Hawaii, I still cannot help but to live and breathe Indians baseball and Browns football. While I do not attend, watch or listen to every game, a little part of me is there and still waiting for a championship celebration.
Craft Beer Drinker - While I enjoy drinking it, I have yet to get my hands dirty in the craft of home brewing.
Music Listener - I like good music, which I realize is very subjective. I define it as what sounds good to my ear, and I leave it at that. While that definition, for me, spans the rock genres mostly, yes all of them, it also dips into country, folk, celtic, hip-hop and rap occasionally as well. I also, for some strange reason, have a weird fascination with cheesy 80s songs that are remade by hard rock bands.
Poker Hobbyist - I used to play a good deal of Texas Hold’em online, before the major sites were effectively shut down, at least for “real money” play, in the US. I now only play whenever I have the time to go find a live game. Also, I considered this a hobby only, and played tournaments versus cash games, so I could limit my losses if I decided to play like an idiot for awhile.
Occasional Karaoke Singer - I don’t go to karaoke frequently, and I think I really only go because my wife likes it so much, but when I do go I sing and have fun. I like to try to pick songs you haven’t heard a million times already and I don’t like to always do the same songs, although sometimes I do. I have found that its not that important to be perfectly on-key, although it sounds great when you are, but it is very important to sing in rhythm with the song. Either way, even if you are tone deaf, if you can keep a beat, you can still have fun at karaoke.
